BEAR VALLEY LAKES HIKING TRIP
The Bear Valley Lakes Trailhead is only 10 miles from our Hayden Creek Ranch in the Lemhi Valley. The trail climbs up through the timber for 5 miles and breaks into this beautiful chain of alpine mountain lakes. There are other lakes that are closer to the trailhead as well. The lakes have great fishing and there are excellent hiking opportunities up to the surrounding peaks for terrific vistas. You can hike up to the lakes for a day, or choose to do a longer horse supported camping or backpacking trip. Combined this trip with any Main Salmon or Middle Fork Salmon for a great multi-sport adventure vacation!

There are several different lakes of varying distances from the Bear Valley Lakes Trailhead. Let us know your interests and we can help customize the right lake trip for you. These trips can be done as a backpacking trip or make it a little easier with horses carrying the camping gear and supplies.
From the lakes there is plenty of exploring to be done in the surrounding areas. Climbing some of the peaks in the Lemhi Mountains, reaching summits of 10,000 ft will provide great vistas. Once you are at the lakes, you may just want to relax in the beautiful alpine setting reading a book. For any fisherman in the group, these mountain lakes provide incredible fly fishing opportunities for cutthroat trout!
With the Middle Fork Salmon ending in Salmon, Idaho and the Main Salmon starting in Salmon, this is a great add on to your rafting vacation. Adding this to your river trips vacation, is a great way to add more of a hiking element to your adventure vacation. Both these river trips do offer hiking, but nothing like an all day hike to a mountain lake.
