    BEAR VALLEY LAKES HIKING TRIP The Bear Valley Lakes Trailhead is only 10 miles from our Hayden Creek Ranch in the Lemhi Valley.  The trail climbs up through the timber for 5 miles and breaks into this beautiful chain of alpine mountain lakes.  There are other lakes that are closer to the trailhead as well.  The lakes have great fishing and there are excellent hiking opportunities up to the surrounding peaks for terrific vistas.  You can hike up to the lakes for a day, or choose to do a longer horse supported camping or backpacking trip.  Combined this trip with any Main Salmon or Middle Fork Salmon for a great multi-sport adventure vacation!

    The only thing that could make your trip on the Middle Fork any better is making it longer!  Don't let the fun stop and continue down the Main Salmon River, the River of No Return, for 5 more days.  It's an incredible 11-day trip covering over 180-miles of Salmon River in the vast Frank Church Wilderness area.  While you begin in the thick spruce forests of the high-elevation of the Middle Fork, you complete the Main Salmon in mountain desert landscapes and massive sand beaches.  It is not only a tour of the heart of Idaho, but a true exploration of the geology and history of this secluded area.     MIDDLE FORK SALMON KAYAKING

    The Middle Fork of the Salmon in the spring is a great time for experienced kayakers to see this renowned Idaho canyon.  June high flows bring more waves and fun big-water rapids.  There are several nice surfing holes with easy eddies and many big waves to catch on the fly.  The Middle Fork is credited for having 100 rapids in 100 miles.  Most rapids are class III with some class IV, with many fun wavetrains!  A fantastic trip for friends or families of paddlers.
